Home Laboratory Service for Babies and Children

Our primary goal is to ensure that babies and children have a comfortable sample collection process. We listen to and observe our young patients closely before starting the procedure, helping them to relax.

Blood collection in babies and children is performed by our highly skilled and experienced nurses. Sampling for ages 0-7 requires extra sensitivity. Our nurses, who are familiar with the special needs of children and babies, are patient and meticulous during blood collection and other sampling procedures.

Our health center always has special pediatric equipment for home laboratory services for babies and children. These include: tubes for children, butterfly sets for blood collection, special syringes, colorful bandages, tourniquets, etc. Our pediatric nurses wear uniforms with fun and colorful characters to interest the children.

Our nurses have strong verbal and behavioral communication skills with children. They inform parents before the procedure, helping to calm them as well. Ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for the child also helps their parents feel more at ease.

Samples are collected under proper hygienic conditions and safely transported to our laboratory for analysis.

Test results are shared quickly online with our doctors and with you. If needed, you can also get an in-home physician consultation.

Can We Give Samples at Any Time of Day for Laboratory Tests?

For some tests, better accuracy is achieved if samples are given at certain times, as the results of some analyses may change depending on when the blood or urine sample is collected. Here is a list of such tests:

    • Iron: Blood sampling is preferred in the morning.
    • Total Iron Binding Capacity: Blood sampling is preferred in the morning.
    • ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic Hormone): Blood should be taken between 08:00-10:00 in the morning or 16:00-18:00 in the afternoon.
    • Deoxypyridinoline (DPD) (Pyrilinks-D): Urine sample should be collected before 10:00 a.m.
    • Erythropoietin: Blood should be taken between 08:00-12:00.
    • Chlamydia trachomatis DNA: First morning urine or urine collected at least 2 hours later.
    • Cortisol: Blood should be collected between 08:00-10:00 in the morning or 16:00-18:00 in the afternoon.
    • Tuberculosis Culture: First morning sputum and urine samples should be collected.
    • Urine Culture: First morning urine or urine that has spent at least 3 hours in the bladder is preferred. For detailed information on urine collection conditions, please call our health center.

    What is Molecular Allergy Test?

The newly developed molecular allergy test now allows for a more comprehensive diagnosis of allergic diseases.

This test requires only a very small amount of blood. Using nanotechnology, this test can provide very important information that cannot be obtained from classical allergy tests, if allergy is present. It is a vital test for detecting allergies to 300 allergens and their molecular components.

The Molecular Allergy Test measures specific IgE amounts in the blood to food, pollen, house dust, mites, bees, and other allergens. It can thus determine both respiratory and food allergies, allergy levels, and also the total IgE, which indicates the body's overall allergic tendency.

How is Molecular Allergy Test Performed?

It is performed using the biochip method. It is carried out by examining a small amount of blood sample.

Which Allergies Can Be Detected with Molecular Allergy Test?

    • With the molecular allergy test, respiratory allergens such as house dust mites, pollen, pets, bees, etc.,
    • Extensive food allergies,
    • And also allergies to the molecular components of allergens can be detected.

The Molecular Allergy Test examines about 300 allergens and their molecular components, providing a very comprehensive assessment of the individual's allergies, and also roughly indicates the IgE level which reflects the body's allergic sensitivity.

    What is Allergy Vaccine?

The molecular allergy test makes it possible to create allergy vaccines based on molecular components.

It provides crucial information for detecting allergies to the components of allergenic substances. As a result, only true allergens are included in the allergy vaccine, making it more effective and safer.

It provides information about the severity of the allergy and the effect of the vaccine. The test also demonstrates molecular spreading and indicates the severity of the allergy.

When the allergy first develops, there might be allergies to a few molecules, but over time, molecular spreading may occur, and allergies to other molecules can develop as well. This information can shed light on the effectiveness of the vaccine and how long it should be applied.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, especially some test results are affected by smoking; smoking should be avoided before blood sampling.

Water can be drunk in moderation (not exceeding one glass).

This may vary according to the test. The ideal fasting duration is usually 8-10 hours. For triglyceride measurements, 12-14 hours of fasting is needed. No food should be eaten after 10:00 p.m.

It is performed to determine general health status and to screen and monitor for various disorders such as anemia. The CBC is a routine or post-consultation blood test performed by our doctors. It can be done with a blood sample taken from your arm, fingertip, or (for newborns) heel.

Urine given during menstruation may contain menstrual blood, which affects culture and microscopic examinations. It becomes difficult to distinguish the source of red blood cells under the microscope. Microorganisms that are normally present in the vagina may contaminate the urine, leading to misleading results. For this reason, urine analysis and culture are not performed during menstrual periods.

Antibiotics may reduce or prevent bacterial growth which can alter test results. Therefore, culture tests should be performed at least 2 days after the last dose of antibiotics.

For parasitological examinations, a hazelnut-sized stool sample should be delivered to the laboratory in its special container within 30 minutes at the latest. Collecting samples on at least 3 consecutive days increases the chance of detecting parasite eggs.

For culture, stool should be taken particularly from bloody and mucus-containing parts and placed in a special transport tube.

When taking a discharge culture, first clean the urethral opening with a sterile wipe, then collect the sample with a swab and place it into a special transport tube. It should be delivered to the laboratory as soon as possible.
